Aeolian Geodiversity of the Itapeva Dunefield (Brazil) and Geoconservation in the Management of Protected Areas

The Itapeva dunefield is an active aeolian transgressive system and important conservation area (PEVA State Park) in Torres-RS, Brazil. It cataloged as a geosite contains geoforms of scientific value for studying the sedimentary environments paleoclimates southern stands out its esthetic, cultural, recreational development tourism. However, use occupation surroundings developed rapidly, environmental problems associated with these changes make it desirable to apply principles coastal management geoconservation region. This study characterizes analyzes how they have changed over time, addition describing some challenges area. A geomorphological analysis was performed this study, focusing on identification characterization landforms landform units present dunefield. Recent satellite imagery, field observations, photographs were used conduct research. results show that main depositional are reversing transverse dunes, U-shaped sub-parabolic precipitation ridges, nebkhas, deflation plains, vegetated sand sheets, foredunes. Erosional features such blowouts occur mainly foredune and/or nebkhas/remnant knobs.
